After Austin I was ready to head back into the wilderness. I drove south to Big Bend National Park, located on the Rio Grande right next to the Mexican Border. It was remote, dry and hot, with pretty mountains and scrub land. The campground was tucked into the mountains, with beautiful hiking trails and views all around.
Along the riverside hiking trails I found little installations where Mexican artists would leave tourist art and a collection box with a sign. It appeared that they would raft over at night, drop off their art, and pick up their earnings the following evening.
