On my way down to visit Jon in North Carolina, I stopped by DC and Shenandoah NP. I had mailed in my camera for service, so all I had on me was my phone. It was kind of nice to travel light and not really think about taking photos - a different sort of mindset. Nonetheless, I still got a few pictures in. It was great to meet up with old friends in DC, and in Shenandoah I had several encounters with black bears on the hiking trails! The bears would get spooked and run away once they noticed me, but once we got within 5 yards of each other before we noticed one another!

Herbert Hoover helped to build out a presidential retreat over there - sort of a precursor to Camp David. It was abandoned in favor of Camp David due to FDR’s mobility restrictions. Most of the buildings are gone now, but it’s still a cool place to check out.
